The proprietary mix of clay and custom glazes that George Scatchard developed through years of experimentation, in combination with the high fire reduction process, create a highly durable and beautiful stoneware product. His lamp bases are simple, attractive, and timeless.

In 2012, Scatchard Stoneware was acquired by American Lighting Brands and moved to the House of Troy factory in Hyde Park, VT. A state-of-the-art kiln was installed on the premises and firing began. Our current in-house potters have mastered the art of slip-casting and have successfully taken over the helm from George Scatchard.
